- On 11 Aug 1980 he became the Chairman of the General Education Division at the University of Minnesota in Crookston. He was the college's first director of admissions and records; a post he held from 1966 to 1972. He became an Associate Professor in 1973. He also spent two years on professional leave in Saudi Arabia, serving as a consultant to the admissions and records department of King Abdul Aziz University in Jidda. He was also an Associate Professor of English at the University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran.

Richard (Dick) Christenson
July 13, 1937 - July 7, 2008 Dick lived in Minnesota until 2002 when he moved to Tucson. Education was his Life, receiving a doctorate from UND, holding administrative and teaching positions at the U of M Crookston for 35 years; a Fulbright consultant in 1972.
Survived by his wife of 50 years, Myra; son, Dan; brother, DeWayne (Jeni) and family.
Memorials may be given to GIDEONS International, P.O. Box 36031 Tucson, AZ, 85740 in Dick's memory. Services will be held, Sunday, July 13 at 300 p.m. Pre-service music will be provided by Southern Arizona Symphony String Quartet and Organ at 230 p.m. At St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (SW Campus) 7575 N.
