  OBITUARY: Verna "Chris" Emmons, of Richland, died March 28, 2017, at the age of 99 in Seattle. She was born January 13, 1918 in Sedan, MN, to Ludvig and Gertrude (Lohre) Christenson. After graduating as valedictorian from Storden High School in 1936 in Minnesota, Chris went on to beauty school and eventually opened a salon before joining the U.S. Women's Army Corps in December of 1942. She was stationed in Spokane, WA, where she met and eventually married Laurence (Larry). They were wed on October 31, 1948, and settled in Richland where they lived out their lives. Chris is survived by her son, David (Lynne) of Brier, and their children Erica (Joe VanAlstine), Brian, Laura (Kyle Kerr) and Jason; and daughter, Tina (Randy) Rice of Camas, and their children Brett, Jeff (Shanae) and Rachel; two great-grandsons, Dylan and Luke Van Alstine; and sister, Lois DeGenere, of Minneapolis, MN. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Saturday, April 8th. Graveside Service: April 8 2017, 2 p.m. Cemetery at Sunset [1]
